California Assemblyman Van Tran (California – 68th Assembly District/Orange County) (pictured left) was on hand last weekend to support the launch of Project Swab: a Vietnamese Marrow Initiative.

The initiative is a community of patient families, friends and other supporters dedicated to finding marrow matches for Vietnamese and other Asian patients. They’re spreading the word about the need for more Vietnamese people to join the Be The Match Registry and other marrow registries worldwide.

The effort launched with an event at a health fair in Westminster, California. Assemblyman Van Tran went on stage to call for donors to join the marrow registry and he joined the registry himself.
